While extracting honey, Thilo gave me this mite from his beehive.
It was just a speck on his fingertip, but he explained that for a bee, this mite is as big as a guinea pig.
It’s a parasite that clings onto the bees and lives of them.
Quite horrible, imagining a cat-sized parasite on you. Humans would never allow that.
This is the smallest animal I have scanned sofar.
The mite is performing as a fantasy-animal in the fulldome film Dancing with Dead Animals.
